North Dakota Services

Thank you for your interest

We appreciate your interest, but National Child Support regrets that we are unable to aid North Dakota residents at this time.

National Child Support has established partnerships with government agencies nationwide in the effort to recover unpaid child support for families like yours. Unfortunately, North Dakota has refused to cooperate with us. Because of their recent actions, we are unable to effectively provide the help that you and your children need and deserve.

On April 20, 2005, the North Dakota legislature passed House Bill 1172, which Governor Hoeven signed. This bill was sponsored by the North Dakota Child Support Director, Mike Schwindt.

This legislation took away your choice to get help from organizations like National Child Support through restrictions that limit our ability to help you. A contributing factor is that the North Dakota Child Support Enforcement Program is completely unwilling to cooperate with private agencies on important issues.

We fought to help North Dakota legislators produce a law that would help, not hurt, the thousands of families like yours that have not been able to get help from the government. However, in the end, Mr. Schwindt succeeded in passing his law which prevents private agencies from helping families that his own agency has been unable to help.

In fact, this new law is particularly ironic since Mr. Schwindt’s agency collects only 10% of the $152 million owed to North Dakota families.

We suggest you contact North Dakota legislators, the North Dakota governor and the North Dakota Child Support Enforcement Program. Let them know you want action and results on your case, and that you want the opportunity to choose to get help from the private sector.
